At the heart of the Central Park SPAEK Program is the SPARK lab, which was created through a generous donation by the Roseville Rotary Club.

Every student in Central Park Elementary School will use the lab one to two times per week, in addition to after-school opportunities. In the lab, students will have access to and be taught how to use high-tech equipment, including 3D printers and scanners, iPads and Chromebooks, robotics, and low-tech “makerspace”-type materials. These tools are used to “spark” student thinking, creativity, and learning using STEAM-based learning experiences.

Classes will combine Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math and will be co-led by the SPARK Program specialist and the classroom teachers. Central Park classrooms will partner with the Works Museum, Harriet Alexander Nature Center, Harambee’s environmental program, and other secondary technology programs to expand what students will be learning in the labs.
